Lateral Flow Immunoassays (LFIA)

Lateral flow test strips based on the principles of immunochromatography exist for a wide array of target analytes. Today, there are commercially available tests for monitoring ovulation, detecting infectious disease organisms, analyzing drugs of abuse, and measuring other analytes important to human physiology. Products have also been introduced for veterinary testing, agricultural applications, environmental testing, and product quality evaluation. While the fist tests presented qualitative results based on the presence or absence of a signal line, test design has progressed toward semiquantitative and quantitative assays and the integration of hand-held readers.

Chemiluminescent Immunoassays (CLIA)

CLIAs are excellent assays for high throughput, low analyte concentration, time sensitive testing and isolation. Using coated magnetic beads as the reagent in a CLIA is an easy and established technique favored among many clinical scientists.

How to choose the proper magnetic bead for your particular assay? Be sure to consider all of the following variables:

a. Bead size (try to work with medium-sized beads, around 1.0 µm if possible)
b. Bead material (PS or PS/DVB, other types of materials or encapsulated if possible)
c. Bead with a higher magnetic pigment content (between 30% and 50% if possible)
d. Bead surface properties (plain, modified, pre-activated or bio-activated)
e. Bead batch size
f. If what you need is not available; ask us to develop a custom product to fit your specific needs.

Latex Particle-enhanced Turbidimetric Immunoassay (LETIA)

Latex particle-enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay (LETIA) is commonly used to quantify serum protein in a homogenous system, which is accurate and stable. In LETIA, antibodies are covalently attached to polymer latex microspheres with antigen binding site exposed, and turbidimetric of reaction solution is changed when antibody-microsphere-antigen complex is formed. Besides, linear correlation between antigen concentration and absorbance at a specific range makes this assay applicable to quantify concentration of antigen.
