Absolute Mag™ Octyl (C8) Magnetic Particles, Silica, 1.0 µm (# WHM-C028) is a useful tool for the magnetic separation of biomolecules based on differences in surface hydrophobicity. The hydrophobe regions from proteins, peptides, enzymes or nucleic acids are preferentially targeted by hydrophobic interaction. The binding strength depends on the ionic conditions, the detergents, the pH and the temperature.
