A group of autoclaved water soluble iron oxide nanocrystals, Absolute Mag™ Carboxylic Acid Iron Oxide Nanoparticles, autoclaved, 20 nm, are coated with amphiphilic polymer. They have been autoclaved at 121°C for 30 mins to make them suitable for enzyme-free experiments. The functional group on surface is carboxylic acid. Their zeta potential is from -30 mV to -50 mV. Their organic layers contain a monolayer of oleic acid and a monolayer of amphiphilic polymer, whose thickness is about 4 nm. The hydrodynamic size of the nanocrystals is about 8-10 nm larger than their inorganic core size measured by TEM. Absolute Mag™ carboxylic acid iron oxide nanoparticles (autoclaved) can be conjugated to protein, peptide and DNA by following our standard conjugation protocol. Also they are stable in most buffer solutions whose pH ranges from 4 to 10.
